Social isolation and loneliness can increase the risk for cognitive decline in seniors.
Mild cognitive impairment is a condition in which a person experiences a slight – but noticeable – decline in mental abilities (memory and thinking skills) compared with others of the same age.
The minor decline in abilities is noticeable by the person experiencing them or by others who interact with the person.

Changes can interfere with normal daily life, activities and complex decision-making. May struggle, but can complete complex tasks such as paying bills, taking medications, shopping, cooking, household cleaning.

Identifies and recall familiar faces
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation (excessive heat warning, drope of temperature allert, warns to lock the door, turn off the stove, misplaced things)
Routine tasks organization ( including waste and recycling information and reminders, organization tips to help maintain care of plants and animals, medication schedules)
Sense of direction, spatial orientation, travel awareness, weather forecast
Recall important events such as appointments, social engagements, birthday dates, and other planned events.

It’s an idea Microsoft has been pursuing since the very first HoloLens demos, where it walked us through the process of fixing a light switch via a Skype video call. But Microsoft has since discontinued its Skype for HoloLens app. Instead, it charges between $20 and $65 per user per month for access to its newer Dynamics 365 Remote Assist program.
This technology could help an individual with a learning disability, or mild cognitive impairment, for example, build up the confidence necessary to make a routine journey unaccompanied, perhaps a trip to a grocery store or pharmacy.
Showing how to make a journey by bus, train or ferry.
Making the journey accompanied by a virtual trainer, who will find the most easily manageable options for the journey and explain each step as the journey progresses, including strategies for coping if the unexpected happens – for example the bus does not arrive or the route is changed.
This can be a way to help someone with a mild cognitive impairment or mental health problem to break their dependence on door-to-door transport or to attempt to travel.

Amazon announced ‘Care Hub’ a set of new features aimed at making its Alexa devices more useful to aging adults.
Family members can keep an eye on older parents and loved ones, with their permission, in order to receive general information about their activities and to be alerted if the loved one has called out for help.
The idea behind Care Hub, the company explains, is to offer reassurance to family members concerned about an elderly family member’s well-being, while also allowing those family members to maintain some independence.
