The project is inspired by the revolutionary aspects of Linux that are social, not technical.

From the beginning, with the aim of being casually modified by volunteers coordinating only through the Internet.

The quality maintained by the simple strategy of obtaining feedback and insights from users, creating a kind of gradual and participatory evolution.

Freely redistributable, anyone can create a distribution.

I think what is most important to acknowledge is access – not everyone has access to technology to be able to communicate. We still want to be able to communicate, but we have to find a way that is both accessible and will meet the needs of someone who is hearing impaired. At times like this, ideally, the rest of the community could start to learn how to communicate via sign language. However, we know that most people are not going to do that. What could be done, kind of like how some starbucks drive throughs have an option for ordering/communicating, stores could implement something similar. Have a tablet or device on site that is accessible to communicate needs with social distancing still being allowable, but ensuring communication can take place. Perhaps a pair of chat devices, that if need be, can be used and the cashier/person who is helping can see and actively help answer their questions and assist them.
